Vanessa BUISSON has been a photographer since 2022, following 15 years working in the social sector.
- Why photography?
To freeze a moment of life, to bear witness, to allow memory to fade—because the image will remain, reminding us.
To help people feel better, reconnect with their bodies and their image, and look at themselves with kindness. Having witnessed deep suffering and its impact on self-image, Vanessa chose to use photography as a tool in the service of resilience.
She aims to make photography accessible to everyone, especially to those who are “invisible” in society and to people who never dared to be photographed.
She specializes in therapeutic photography and has been E.S.T.I.M.-certified since 2023. She works on self-esteem through photo sessions, using a process taught by Priscilla Gissot. She has a particular sensitivity for marked bodies that tell a story—scars, tattoos, piercings—witnesses to life moments, wounds, and victories. She works with all audiences: children, teenagers, people living with illnesses such as cancer, people with disabilities, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and more. Her approach is inclusive, and she is deeply committed to making photography accessible to everyone.
Vanessa BUISSON photographs what is real: emotions, connections between people, both outdoors and in the studio. She also offers reportage photography—weddings, ceremonies, birthdays, bachelorette parties, and more. She is sensitive to human bonds, intimacy, and complicity. She respects each person’s boundaries, and her cheerful nature helps clients relax during sessions. She takes time to talk with clients beforehand to ensure everything is just right on the day of the shoot.
She also develops socially engaged photographic projects on subjects close to her heart, such as domestic violence, women’s rights, and French agriculture. These projects will soon be available on her website.
She offers services within medical and social care institutions: nursing homes (EHPAD), sheltered workshops (ESAT), special education institutes (IME), youth centers, hospitals, and more. The workshops may include portrait projects for residents, as well as sessions teaching how to take beautiful photos—even with a smartphone. Her background in social work with vulnerable populations allows her to approach every audience with patience, kindness, and understanding.
She also provides photo reportages in daycare centers and childminder settings, enabling parents to receive beautiful images of their young children without excessive cost.
Her values are inclusion, sharing, cooperation, and kindness. Vanessa is in daily contact with other photographers and regularly pursues further training to continuously improve her technique and approach.
