Pierre RICH has been a professional photographer since 1989. A graduate of the École des Arts Décoratifs in Strasbourg (Diplôme National Supérieur d’Expression Plastique), he is recognized today as an eclectic, insightful, sensitive, and engaged photographer, mastering all techniques specific to the various fields he works in. His photographic eye is particularly sharp in terms of framing and the use of light.
He is also a professional graphic designer—a complementary skill to his photography—as well as an author, writer, and publisher.
While working in a wide range of photographic fields (advertising, objects, portraits, travel, street photography, events…), his main areas of interest are nature and all its phenomena (landscapes, rocks, wildlife, forests…), heritage, architecture, and increasingly, live performances (theater, music). He has developed excellent technical mastery, both in shooting and in digital post-production (graphic workflow, fine retouching, perspective correction, enhancing images…). He is particularly committed to meeting deadlines and delivering work that satisfies while boldly surprising his clients.
He continues artistic research focusing on capturing movement and energy in music, collaborating with renowned musicians.
Since the 1990s, he has contributed to numerous books. In 2010, he published his first monograph, Vosges mystérieuses, le Murmure des Géants (Les Petites Vagues). He went on to publish Couleurs des Vosges (Éditions du Signe), Chemins de pierres, roches et mégalithes de France (Éditions Grancher), Massif des Vosges, patrimoine naturel (Vent d’Est), Croisée de mondes, roches et ouvrages du Grand Est (Le Signe), Le sentier des passeurs, 12 ans d’art nature en pays de Salm (Hélicoop éditions), and in 2017 he created his own editorial label, Les Géants, with which he has published four beautiful books to date: Vibrations violoncelle, Hautes Pierres, Entrevues buissonnières, Vosges Merveilles, and the latest, Esprit des lieux.
Alongside his professional photography, Pierre RICH has been an art teacher for over 20 years, making him a skilled educator in the field. He regularly leads photography workshops and training sessions.
